Exactly 400 years ago, 25 August 1609, Italian astronomer, mathematician, physicist and philosopher Galileo Galilei was the Venetian merchants of the new creation, telescope, an instrument of his at the same time - and the science of death, far more immediate problems.
The earliest known working telescopes appeared in 1608 and attributed to Hans Lipperhey. Among others, who claimed that the discovery was made by Zacharias Janssen, spectacle-maker of Middelburg, and Jacob Metius of Alkmaar. The design of these early refractor telescope consisted of convex objective lens and a concave eyepiece. Galileo used the design of the next year. Galileo made the instrument famous.
